A complete conversion of a residential detached house. The project included home adaptations such as the addition of a hydrotherapy pool, hoist and lift and a play area.
LABC Regional Winner for Best Residential Conversion or Alteration to an Existing Home
The project was driven by PLG but working with J&L Build, the wider client team and the family themselves, we strove to deliver the absolute best that could be achieved for our client.
It certainly had it challenges, but was worth all of the effort as we achieved, not only a LABC award winning project, but far more importantly, a home that went above all expectations.
In collaboration, we created an elegant, warm and welcoming home, whilst seamlessly integrating all of the facilities and equipment that our client required to make his day to day living as easy as possible, allowing him to take an active part in family life, and providing the whole family with a positive environment where they could all thrive.
Returning to the property a year after we handed it back to the family allowed us to see the spaces in use exactly as they had been intended. We saw how well everything was wearing considering the heavy use of a wheelchair occupant, and the pride that the family took in showing us around what had been transformed from a completed building to a charming and inviting family home.
We know that what we do makes a difference to our clients and their families, but seeing the impact first hand is reward and recognition enough of what we set out to do at every day. Working with a supportive contractor who understands the complexity and complex needs of the client, his family and the wider client team, makes the difference between good projects, and amazing ones. This was the first project we had undertaken with J&L Build, we are pleased to be working with them on further works and would not hesitate to recommend them to clients in the future.
